If you were already registered with Metro Pay, you do not need to do anything. You will automatically become a Metro Pay Plus user.
Metro Pay
Metro Pay is the easiest way to pay for your metro journeys with a contactless bank card, with no registration, no need to buy a ticket and no top-ups.
You can use a physical bank card or a smart device. Every time you travel, tap the same payment method on the reader at the enabled gates when entering and exiting. If you exit at a surface stop, you do not need to tap your card again.
The Single Ticket fare (€1.35 per journey) will apply. Journeys made during the day will be charged at the end of that day.
Metro Pay Plus
Metro Pay with registration is now called Metro Pay Plus.
Metro Pay Plus is the Metro Pay option designed for people who use the metro more frequently and want to benefit from progressive discounts.
To use Metro Pay Plus, you need to register and travel with your registered physical bank card. As you make more journeys during each calendar month, the price per journey decreases according to the tier you reach.
Instead of receiving daily charges, you will receive a single charge in the first few days of the following month for all validations made during the month.

How does it work?
If you use Metro Pay

- Register for Metro Pay Plus and link the physical bank card you will use to travel.
- Always use that registered physical card to validate your journeys.
- Throughout the calendar month, you will accumulate journeys and move through the corresponding progressive discount tiers.
- You will receive a single charge in the first few days of the following month.
IMPORTANT: always use the same payment method when entering and exiting. A physical card and that same card digitised on an electronic device (phone, smartwatch, etc.) are identified as different payment methods and may result in an additional charge.
Where can I use it?
Metro Pay and Metro Pay Plus are available at all Metro de Málaga stations and surface stops.
At underground stations, you can validate with your bank card at the wide-access gates for PRM (People with Reduced Mobility) and at any validation gate at Guadalmedina and Atarazanas stations.
Enabled gates are marked with the Metro Pay and Metro Pay Plus logos. At surface stops, you can use any of the validation points located on both platforms.

The system allows groups of up to nine people to travel using the same card, provided everyone travels together from the same origin to the same destination.
For Metro Pay Plus, only the first validation counts towards the progressive discounts. All subsequent validations will be charged at the Tier 1 fare (€0.49).
If Metro de Málaga staff ask to check your validation during your journey, present the same card or device you used to travel to the inspection device. The system will display your journey information without making any additional charge.
The system accepts Visa and Mastercard cards. Contactless payments must be enabled on the card.
No. Metro Pay and Metro Pay Plus are bank-card payment systems and do not allow other travel tickets to be digitised.
No. If you have special discounts linked to a Transport Consortium card, you must validate with that card to benefit from them. Likewise, to access the transfer fare available with the Consortium Travel Purse Card, you must use the physical Consortium card.
You must use exactly the same payment method you used when entering. If you entered with a physical card, exit with that same card; if you used a phone or smartwatch, use the same device. If you switch payment methods, even if they are linked to the same bank account, the system may interpret it as a separate entry and generate an additional charge.
If you finish your journey at a surface exit, you do not need to tap your card or device on the reader again.
In that case, even if the card number remains the same, you will need to register it again in your Metro Pay Plus profile.
