What is it?
It is a validation and payment system that allows you to access and travel in metro using your EMV contactless bank card
You can travel using your bank card directly, whether credit or debit, in both physical format or on your mobile device.
With this system, you won’t have to buy or recharge a travel ticket from ticket machines at the stations.
How does it work?
If you are going to use your EMV contactless card you can start to travel and benefit from the advantages of the Metro Pay system at any time. You only have to pass your physical or virtual card at the authorized points, and it will be validated.
During this first phase, it’s not necessary to register in the Metro Pay system. The Single Ticket fare (€1.35) will be applied and charged at the end of the day.
This payment method permits multivalidation and, therefore group travel, provided that the group travels together from the same departure to the same destination (up to 9 validations on entry).
Where is the system available?
The system is available at all the stations and outdoor metro stops.
In underground stations you can validate with your bank card in the wide-aisle PRM gates, and in any of the validation points at Guadalmedina and Atarazanas stations.
The available points for the EMV system are identified with the logo Metro Pay.
At outdoor metro stops the EMV system can be found at any of the validation or ticket check points situated on both platforms.

If during your journey , staff of Metro Malaga ask for your ticket for inspection, you can prove that you have a valid travel ticket with the card or device that was used for validation.
When you place your card near our control equipment, your travel information will be shown, in the same way as a usual physical ticket, without any additional charge.
With this payment and validation system, it is not necessary to buy a physical card and, furthermore, you will save time as it is not necessary to buy or recharge travel tickets.
The EMV System allows Visa cards (with the exception of Revolut) and Mastercard.
A contactless system needs to be enabled, that does not require a pin for amounts less than 20 Euros.
The system has been designed in compliance with European safety standards. Under no circumstances will confidential card information be stored.

No, this system is for credit cards, physical or virtual in smart devices.
No, if the person has special discounts for being part of a large family (normal or special) or under 30 years old, to obtain these discounts they will have to validate with that card rather than the EMV system.
To leave a station you must use the same pay system as in the entry (telephone, watch or physical bank card). If you use a different one, even if it is linked to the same account, an additional charge will be made because the system detects it as a different entry.
